AbstractSpatial distribution and association of relevant features are significant in the planning and management of fire-fighting activities. This information can be derived effectively using Geographic Information System (GIS) technology. This paper examines the types of information suitable for various aspects of fire management that can be extracted from data collected and maintained by government departments in Hong Kong. The ability to share and transport data from other departments not only extends the utility of the data but expands the scope of fire management and its practice.
