AbstractIn the early 1990s, a significant portion of the range of the endemic Romer's tree frog Chirixalus romeri was threatened by the construction of the new international airport in Hong Kong. Melbourne Zoo, Australia, partnered with The University of Hong Kong to establish a captive-breeding programme as part of a broader conservation initiative to secure the species in the wild. Large numbers of frogs were successfully bred at both facilities, underpinning the success of subsequent releases.
