Regional Development and coordination in Chinas urbanization

Abstract

In China’s urbanization, the policyfor urban development restricts regionaldevelopment and coordination, as such,results in the lagging urban developmentwhich is not compatible with China’sindustrialization. Chinese governmentshould employ different urban developmentpolicies and strategies accordingly,especially at the favourable time of China’sentry to WTO now for the regional interestsshould be put on the first priority.

城市化進程不僅關系到區域人口、經濟和環境的可持續發展,而且關系到區域平衡和區域生產效率,關系到區域國際競爭力。中國政府應根據不同的區域發展機制制定相應的城市化政策和戰略,按照21世紀議程,尤其是要充分利用加入WTO的有利時機,在大力促進城市化的同時,將區域的總體利益擺在首位。
