2 Explore schemes for optical generation of spin and pseudospin polarizations in van der Waals layered structures; explore schemes for realizing spin dependent interlayer hopping of carriers using optical controls and the control of spin currents across the layered structures; investigate the generation of spin and pseudospin polarization through the control of interlayer excitons. 3 Investigate schemes for direct generation of spin and pseudospin currents in transition metal dichalcogenides monolayers and their van der Waals layered structures; investigate two-photon transition matrix elements and two-photon absorption processes; investigate the injection of ballistic spin and valley currents using the quantum interference by one-photon and two-photon processes in transition metal dichalcogenides monolayer and their van der Waals layered structures.
