Objectives
1 Synthesize several types of ion exchange polymer threaded in metal organic framework to provide different functionalities, including anionic and cationic exchange functions. 2 Establish structure-performance relationship via variations in paring of polymers and metal organic frameworks (MOFs), hence variations in hydrophobicity, porosity, polymer loadings, charge type, charge densities, and molecular weight. 3 Fabricate and evaluate performance of a membrane composed of the novel ion exchange polymer threaded MOF.
