Abstract | Diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities for mid-GI bleeding are expected to continue to improve. However, better diagnostic tests or even therapeutic approaches by themselves cannot improve outcomes. We currently have sufficiently accurate diagnostic tests and effective therapies such that there is no reason to delay institution of prospective, well-designed, long-term studies of the different etiologies of obscure GI bleeding, including obscure GI bleeding with negative small bowel endoscopic evaluation. © 2010 AGA Institute. |
