Abstract | This paper presents an approach of theoretical modelling of the mechanical phenomena induced by jet grouting. The jet propagation across the space between the injection nozzles and the intact soil is modeled on the basis of the theory of turbulent kinematic flow. The eroding ability of the jet fluid on soil is evaluated using an empirical equation according to the results of previous experimental investigations. Therefore, the relationship among column diameter, jet parameters, and soil properties is established. Theoretical results obtained for the different soil types are compared with published experimental data. The results show that the proposed method is applicable for most soil types. © 2012 American Society of Civil Engineers. |
