AbstractThe effects of different metal cathodes and CsF buffer layer on the efficiency of organic light-emitting devices were investigated. The effects of reflectivity and reactivity of metal cathodes on device efficiency and stability was also analyzed. It was observed that device performance improves as the metal work function decreases. The efficiency of devices with alkaline earth metal cathode were found to be better than using lanthanides. An improvement was found in the devices with different metal overlayers on insertion of ultrathin CsF. The result provided guidelines for designing devices and improving their lifetime.
