AbstractCharacterization of protein digests using a hybrid quadrupole linear ion trap mass spectrometer was presented. This new technology, integrated with information dependent data acquisition (IDA), provides users a powerful tool to design specific experiments based on protein applications. The IDA method was built and optimized for 15 protein digest mixtures to obtain maximum sequence coverage. Characterization of post translational modification was performed by producing and detecting fragment ions.
