AbstractFast Illinois solver code (FISC) requirements about memory and central processing unit (CPU) time are discussed. Some empirically derived formulas and charts are given. The examples used to get these are also plotted. The resultant matrix equation is solved iteratively by the conjugate gradient (CG) method where the multilevel fast multipole algorithm is used to speed up the matrix-vector multiply in CG.
