| Abstract | All kinds of medical and dental treatment, including orthodontics, have potential risks and limitations. Although complications in orthodontics are infrequent, when they occur, they can be traps for orthodontists. Risks of orthodontic treatment including root resorption, periodontal damage, temporomandibular disorders, tooth ankylosis, unfavorable growth pattern, etc. will be discussed. The greatest risk is a failure to adequately inform the patients/parents concerning all of the possibilities and impossibilities as well as their consequences. |
