AbstractBrachydesmiella anthostomelloidea sp. nov. is described and illustrated from decaying submerged wood in Australia. It is characterized by simple, cylindro-clavate, geniculate, pale olivaceous brown conidiophores, with terminal conidiogenous cells bearing sympodial cicatrices, producing 2-celled, obpyriform conidia. The differences between B. anthostomelloidea, B. caudata, B. biseptata var. biseptata, and B. biseptata var. orientalis are discussed.
