AbstractAlthough Building Information modelling (BIM) is been widely discussed and used, its adoption rate and quality remain a thorny problem. This paper points out that human-organization-technology is the iron triangle for BIM adoption in construction project organizations. It will analyze the three vertexes of the triangle (human, organization, and technology), the three edges of the triangle (human-organization relationship, human-technology relationship, and technology-organization relationship), and the core of the triangle (the human-organization-technology relationship) using a systematical review method. By systematically articulate these key components, this paper provides a comprehensive and fresh perspective of the BIM adoption process for researchers and practitioners, addresses the significance of the balance among the human, organization, and technology, and helps them identify the key issues in the adoption of BIM.
