AbstractWe present the first experimental demonstration of a chiral metamaterial exhibiting negative refractive index at the terahertz frequencies. The refractive indices of the chiral metamaterial were retrieved directly from the measured complex coefficients of transmission and reflectance. © 2008 Optical Society of America.
