AbstractA series of alkynylgold(I) phosphine complexes with various bridging phosphines and acetylide ligands have been synthesized. All complexes have been shown to exhibit rich photophysical and photochemical behaviour. A systematic comparative study on their spectroscopy and photophysics has been attempted. The complexes undergo facile electron-transfer reactions with pyridinium electron acceptors. The redox nature of the quenching reactions has been established by time-resolved transient absorption spectroscopy.
