AbstractCritchley and Vitiello (1991) and Fung (1992) independently found two fundamental statistics in discriminant analysis on which many diagnostic measures depend. Based on this finding, in this article we show that two diagnostic measures DMPi (Fung, 1992) and E2Pi 0 (Fung, 1996) are asymptotically equivalent. The accuracy of the equivalence relationship is investigated using medium and small sized data sets. Copyright © 1998 by Marcel Dekker, Inc.
