AbstractDiagnosing the faults of hydraulic support system, used in underground longwall mining, is very complex and time consuming as sometimes the relation between the cause and the result of the faults is vague. In addition, the definitions of cause and result are vague as well. This paper details the application of the fuzzy set theory to diagnosis of hydraulic support system. The development of a practical and workable method and instruments to diagnose the leakage of hydraulic support system and the emulsion pump set has been introduced in this paper.
