Objectives
To investigate how music experience and prosodic backgrounds influence the perception and learning of non-native lexical pitch accents in English and Cantonese adult musicians and non-musicians whose native languages exhibit different levels of similarity to Japanese pitch accents. Experimental tests of music pitch memory, pitch accent perception, pitch-accent word learning, working memory and nonverbal intelligence will be administered to English and Cantonese musicians and non-musicians.
