Prof Lung S Chan received his bachelor degree from CUHK and his Masters and PhD in geology and geophysics from University of California-Berkeley. His research interests include the tectonics and geology of South China, environmental magnetism, geophysics and development of innovative geophysical techniques to geological and urban studies. His recent research projects include Cenozoic geological history of South China, co-seismic changes in gravity field associated with 2008 Sichuan earthquake, seismogenic characteristics of aftershock migration in earthquakes, application of infrared thermography to detect body temperatures. The last study was awarded the Best Original Paper by HK Medical Journal in 2013.
