Professor Kochhar-Lindgren, Gray Meredith
As Professor and Director of the Common Core, I work with multiple partners on and off campus to create, deepen, and dynamically sustain the interdisciplinary curriculum for the undergraduate students at HKU. With degrees in philosophy, religious studies, literature, and a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies from Emory University, I have also taught in Switzerland, Germany, and the United States, and, in 2009-10, served as a Fulbright Scholar in General Education at the University of Hong Kong. Along with Xiao Hu (Education and Digital Heritage), Gina Marchetti (Film Studies and Comparative Literature), Mathew Pryor (Landscape Architecture), and Julian Tanner (Biomedial Sciences), we were awarded both the HKU and the UGC Outstanding Teaching Award (Team) for Transdisciplinarity-in-Action. I am currently facilitating projects on CLASS (China Liberal Arts Summer Sessions), GLADE (Global Liberal Arts Design Experiments), the Global Civic University, and Critical Zones: Gender Equality, Sustainable Cities, and Well-Being, as well as serving on grants related to student motivation, internationalization, and cross-cultural communication.
