Jingwen Ma is a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). He obtained Ph.D. from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 2021, focusing on nano-photonic circuits and nano-electro-mechanics. After graduation, he briefly joined Prof. Jianbin Xu‘s group at CUHK as a postdoctoral researcher, working on 2D-material devices. From 2022 Aug. to 2024 Aug, he has been postdoctoral researcher at HKU, working on strong light-matter interactions between photonic nanostructures and organic/inorganic semiconductors. His first-author/corresponding-author research has been published in Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Comunication, Science Advances, Light & Science Applications, Advanced Materials, ACS Nano, National Science Review, and so on. These results were recognized by the Optical Society of America as one of the world’s 30 most clearly communicated breakthroughs in optics in 2016, selected by the Chinese Optical Society as Excellent Research Output in Silicon Photonics over the past three years in 2024, and featured by prestigious scientific journals and media, including Nature Nanotechnology, Light Science Applications, Phys.org, and Laser focus world. Dr. Ma’s current research focuses on nano-photonic devices and chips, where he studies interactions of light with novel nanostructures and nanomaterials, aiming to discover exotic optical phenomena not found in nature and create innovative nano-devices for next-generation photonic chips.
