AbstractIn this seminar/workshop, we will first define and discuss our approach to designing the medical terminology component of the courses within the medical sciences and health care cognate group. (The group includes Chinese Medicine, Dentistry, Medicine, Medical Engineering, Nursing and Pharmacy). The discussion will serve to consolidate guiding principles for our pedagogy and establish a firmer foundation for re-examining our approach from time to time. We will also look at the rationale behind the new word-part core list, just compiled as part of the continuous development of our medical terminology resources. All participants are invited to come up with ideas for exploiting the list in our teaching and learning activities. If time allows, we will also discuss how other resources can be revised and developed towards a GUE-elective course (open to all students) or an independent study module.
