AbstractIn two studies, we adopted indirect measures of pain and found that social pain pre-living led to impaired cognitive performance (Study 1) and analgesia (Study 2), as compared with physical pain pre-living. These results further suggest that social pain can be more intensively pre-lived than physical pain.
