AbstractThis cross-cultural study demonstrates that respondents’ levels of impression management (IM) and Self-deceptive enhancement (SDE) are differentially affected by culture and whether a high-stake is involved in the assessment setting. A double-rating method (Hui, 2001) is equally effective in reducing IM and SDE, for both cultural groups.
