AbstractEducators use a variety of teaching approaches to engage students in their learning。 There is good evidence that the use of cases or scenarios can encourage learners to be more inquisitive and to actively explore concepts and issues rather than passively absorbing subject matter. Educators should consider using ‘eCases’, in which students can actively explore information, obtain feedback and communicate with others in a web-based environment. This paper describes a framework for designing appropriate cases for teaching and learning in a blended learning environment, i.e. using eCases online and further consolidating through face-to-face meetings. The framework involves making key decisions in the four areas of case design, use of multimedia, learner preparation, and feedback.
