AbstractThe ubiquitous use of new technologies, along with changing curriculum and student study habits has resulted in universities needing to rethink teaching and learning environments. Based on ongoing research at one university in Hong Kong, this presentation explores the changing needs for learning spaces and the resultant designs to maximize opportunities for student learning. With reference to a new publication which examines multiple case studies of innovative pedagogical practices from over 25 countries, this presentation outlines these needs and the institution’s evolving plans for new physical spaces to support both flexible and interactive learning environments and to complement an increasing role of online learning spaces to support student work in universities.
