Abstract | The Ailao Shan fault zone in W Yunnan represents a suture boundary between S China and Indosinian Cratons. Preliminary palaeomagnetic results from 3 sites in Sichuan, Guichou, and Yunnan Provinces reveal a 14o northward migration of S China Craton between Late Permian and Middle Triassic. The 2 cratons were separated by about 20o latitudes during the Early Triassic. The tectonic setting of East Asia during the Triassic was probably analogous to the present Indonesian region. -Authors |
