AbstractA method was developed for the determination of sub-trace platinum group elements (PGEs) by combination of inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry and a fire assay with concentration procedure of about 2.5 g nickel sulfide buttons. Through the comparison of different weight buttons, the procedure of about 2.5 g buttons was selected. This method was applied to the determination of PGEs in geological reference materials except for chromite and their results were in agreement with the certified values.
