Abstract | An attempt is made to study theoretically the low- and high-field longitudinal diffusivity of n-InSb in the extreme quantum limit. The investigations are made for two lattice temperatures 4.2 and 77 K, considering carrier screening and scattering mechanisms for various band structures. It is found that the diffusivity increases with electric field but decreases with magnetic field. Moreover, the diffusivity decreases due to the inclusion of quantum screening, band nonparabolocity and scatterings. It is also observed that the scattering mechanism plays an important role on the diffusivity. © 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. |
