AbstractTwo numerical experiments have been conducted using a three dimensional integral equation solver (TRIMOM). For target with thin structures, combined field integral equation (CFIE) yielded better conditioned matrix equation. For Galerkin's method, the diagonal preconditioning significantly reduced the condition number of the impedance matrix in case of non-uniform grid. For TRIMOM, the RC breakdown frequency is about three orders of magnitude lower than the typical frequency corresponding to 0.1 λ edge length. As a result, in an iterative solver, CFIE yields more accurate RCS and faster convergence.
