AbstractThe statistical properties of electromagnetic scattering from 2-D random rough surface in 3-D space was investigated using Monte carlo simulation. The surfaces were characterized by perfectly conducting Gaussian random surfaces on a finite plate. The scattered field and the surface roughness appeared on the original flat surface were represented by using the small perturbation series from the original surface. It was observed that the scattering pattern depends on each realization with different property from the ensemble average.
