Thirty fragments of the Tangut manuscripts have their phonological transcription in Tibetan script currently. It has been known earlier that these Tibetan transcriptions had at least 3 different kinds of handwriting. However, the different handwritings have never been categorized. As a result those Tibetan transcriptions from different origins interweave together, interfering the analysis of Tangut phonology. Using the most updated data, this paper discusses the categorization of different handwritings among the Tibetan transcription. It gives a brief examination on the origins of these fragments, and points out the differences in phonological representation among various handwriting categories.
