AbstractSpintronic sensors can find innovative applications beyond information storage and enable smart living. Healthy and sustainable living is a concern for people in the 21st Century. Spintronic sensors can be utilized in biodetection for healthcare and smart grid for sustainability. In this paper we discuss the prospects of spintronic sensors in healthcare industry and power industry in connection with smart living. We describe the possible applications of spintronic sensors in realizing point-of-care diagnostic devices for early cancer detection and monitoring power transmission systems to enable smart grid. Our initial achievements in these aspects are presented. We can foresee the potential contribution of spintronic sensors to healthcare, sustainability, and renewable energy, which constitute the essential elements of smart living.
