AbstractChina has long dreamt for world-class teacher education,with various national initiatives implemented over decades.This paper examines the complex implementation process in these national initiatives to nurture a world-class teaching force,with findings from a case study.It places the analysis in the unique sociocultural context of China,and adopts a rational perspective to analyze the institutional transformations and developmental challenges of the national reform.Meanwhile,policy implications for teacher education reform are elaborated.Lastly,this paper proposes that China provides an alternative model for building a world-class teaching force in an age of globalization. 教師教育在最近數十年裡經歷了全球性的重大變革,中國也在堅持​​不懈地培養世界一流教師。通過案例研究,全面分析中國在培養世界一流教師國家戰略方面的政策過程,重點分析在中國獨特的社會文化背境下的政策舉措、制度轉型以及理性視角下的發展挑戰。同時,制度變革的挑戰和限制將在以下兩個框架內得以檢視——現有背景制約因素下的較少可變革性和製度上的可完善性。對未來教師教育改革的啟示也將圍繞這兩個方面進行闡釋。最後指出,隨著中國國際地位的提高,從其卓越的教育績效和上海學生在2009年PISA中優異的學業成就可以看出,中國提供了培養世界一流教師隊伍的新模式,在全球化時代,這個模式或許對國際社會具有多重意義。
