AbstractVoltage stability issues can be classified into three main types: static voltage instability, dynamic voltage instability and transient voltage instability. This paper will focus on the voltage control which is an important element in the static voltage stability problem. Under given configuration and condition of the power grid, the power supply and customer demand are the two main aspects which significantly influence the operation status of the power grid. Thus, two operational scenarios of the power grid in practice which are corresponding to the variation of the power generation and load demand respectively have been selected for discussion: the voltage drop that is caused by the intermittent renewable power connection; and the increase of the load demand resulting in voltage sag. The former will be analyzed with renewable power generations connected to a specific power network to investigate the voltage deviation of the nodes and work out some corresponding solutions to improve the voltage performance. The second part will examine the situation in which the increases of the loads resulting in the drop of the bus voltages at the load side and apply the some devices to control the voltage deviation in a certain range automatically and dynamically. Corresponding to each individual problem, this paper will establish different models and apply effective methods to simulate the related solutions in order to improve the voltage performance, which can provide us with referable information in the stable operation of the power system.
