Abstract | The paper proposes a risk evaluation approach for power system based on self-organized criticality, which can give alerts for high probability of cascading failure. First, the model is proposed to simulate the failure sequences for different system states. Second, taking the failure sequences as an input, the judgment criterion for self-organized criticality state is given. Based on the criterion, the risk evaluation approach is designed to determine whether the system state is possible to fall into self-organized criticality state. At last, it is suggested to take precautions when self-organized criticality is detected by the computations off-line. A case study is provided to show the efficiency of the proposed evaluation approach. © 2015 IEEE. |
