AbstractThis research examines how incidental exposure to death-related information in media affects consumers' price sensitivity. We demonstrate that seeing death-related information in media leads consumers to focus on intrinsic rather than extrinsic values, resulting in lower sensitivity to prices of products and services which are generally associated with extrinsic values.
