Abstract | Flipped classroom has gained lots of popularity in educational field in recent years.
There were number of researches studied the impact of flipped classroom. However, the impact of flipped classroom for learning Science among low achievers remains an unknown. One of the aim of the present study is to investigate the effectiveness of flipped classroom towards low achievers in learning Science. And gamification is usually used to enhance the learning experience of students. Since most low achievers has low motivation to learn. The present study also aimed to find out whether gamification would help improving the academic performance of low achievers. This study was conducted in a band 2 secondary school in Hong Kong and 57 students studying Integrated Science were involved. This study found that there was no significant difference on students’ academic performance with or without the use of flipped classroom. But using flipped classroom had found some positive changes in students’ learning attitude.
