AbstractPull-out or immersion are two methods commonly used by L2 teachers. However, both practices have their limitations. This presentation introduced a new teaching method named “Dynamic Enhancement Learning Mode”(DELM), which overcomes the limitations of both pull-out and immersion methods, while maintain their strengthens. The present study aims to investigate the effectiveness of DELM by comparing the learning outcomes of K2 and K3 students using either DELM or immersion to learn Chinese as a second language (CSL). Native Chinese speaking students had also been recruited as the control group. Research results indicated that students of DELM group outperformed the immersion group in their Chinese language proficiency. The Chinese language gap between DELM group and the control group also narrowed down significantly.
