Abstract | A dynamic perspective is gaining momentum in organizational research. Three studies based on employee samples from two cultures in this symposium extend this line of research by examining antecedents, outcomes, and moderators of affective shift (i.e., change of affect), and change-related reciprocal relationships between regulatory foci and voice behavior. Specifically, the papers in this symposium present frontier discoveries. They offer insights into (a) creative process engagement in relation to affective shift, (b) stress- related precursors and performance outcomes of affective shift, (c) regulatory foci traits as moderators of affective shift, and (d) change-related reciprocal relationships between regulatory foci and voice behavior. Various methods with repeated measurements have been adopted to showcase useful approaches to examine change. Findings from the papers in this symposium contribute to the literature by adding new theoretical understandings on change-related affect and motivational processes. |
