AbstractIn this presentation, I will provide a brief overview of learning sciences as an interdisciplinary field examining the situated nature of learning in complex, authentic contexts to support 21st century skills. We will take a specific focus on self-regulated learning as an area of practical interest for clinical educators and explore how clinical supervisors can support novices in building the key strategic skills of self-planning, self-monitoring, and using adaptive strategies to support professional learning. Additionally, we will consider how shared regulation practices can support clinical teamwork. Workshop participants will be invited to explore potential implications of technologies and video-enabled approaches in designing activities that promote self-regulation for pre-service speech language therapists.
