Abstract | The lecture investigates the inter-playing relationship between the working environments and the workers in modern Taiwan. It explores the historical context of industrial development of Taiwan in the post-war period and how it contributed to the economic development of Taiwan today. It also looks at the working experience of Taiwanese people in the modern era and how it contributed to the rise of labour movements. Finally, it will talk about how such working environments and workers’ experience caused the Taiwanese government’s recent promotion of the branding of Made in Taiwan (MIT) as a global brand. |
