AbstractThis presentation provides a brief overview of the life satisfaction of adolescents and reports data from a study in Hong Kong to examine properties of a Chinese version of the Brief Multidimensional Students’ Life Satisfaction Scale (BMSLSS). The scale was completed by 676 Chinese adolescents attending the Hong Kong Academy of Gifted Education, and 702 students of average achievement in mainstream high schools. Results indicated that gifted students conceptualize life satisfaction in the same way as their average-attainment peers in regular schools. Results support the applicability of BMSLSS for use with Chinese students. Practical strategies for enhancing life satisfaction are suggested.
