Abstract | Beyond usage, users can contribute to IT services and bring competitive advantages to IT vendors. To understand how to better mobilize the powerful user workforce, this study aims at studying user voluntary contributions in a general context of consumer IT services. Drawing on the extra-role behavior literature, this study re-examines the definition and scope of voluntary contributions. Specifically, we theorize a new term, technology extra-role behavior (TERB), and synthesize a comprehensive typology of TERB. This study has both research and practical implications. |
