Abstract | During the worst political crisis in Hong Kong’s history, anti-government protesters have staged massive sit-ins at the city’s airport. This talk examines the tactics and promotional materials used by the protesters to make their case, and compares them with those of the colonial authorities during an earlier crisis – the 1967 disturbances and riots – to present Hong Kong as a safe tourist destination and counter adverse overseas news coverage. |
