Abstract | In the talk, Nicole will be sharing with us insights she has gained from her bountiful experiences as a teacher educator in her work with both pre- and in-service English teachers in local primary and secondary schools. Reflecting on her near two-year journey of learning to teach online and supporting teachers in overcoming the challenges brought about by the pandemic, she will showcase some innovative online teaching practices observed that have worked to good effect in young learners’, teenagers’ and undergraduates’ core skills development. With these distinctive examples, she will highlight the role innovation plays in task design as well as the management of interaction in the virtual classroom. Opportunities afforded by technology in creating avenues for the enhancement of students’ core skills will also be discussed. |
