Abstract | BIM (Building Information Modeling) provides opportunities to improve the existing process of the whole life cycle project management, especially in the design phase and maintenance phase. However, BIM has not sufficiently played an effective role in the stage of construction but mainly contributed in design. The process of on-site construction management is a critical one for the execution of construction projects, which have an urgent demand to take full use of BIM to improve its efficiency and productivity. This paper introduces a conceptual framework of real-time BIM framework for the on-site construction management. The conceptual framework integrates BIM with sensing technology, which then interacted by augmented reality (AR) and mobile computing technology. The proposed framework will provide initial work for the wide scale of BIM implementation in construction projects. © 2015 Taylor & Francis Group. |
