AbstractThe consumer electronics industry is experiencing a significant paradigm shift from wired charging to wireless charging. This scenario will be further enhanced as more applications are adopting wireless charging. As a result, it is required that wireless power conversion technologies should be able to cope with the new challenges raised by these emerging applications effectively. This presentation will start with an overview of key dimensions of existing wireless power transfer systems (i.e., topologies, modulation, and control) along with the advantages and trade-offs of various solutions. Furthermore, some new challenges to the stability of existing wireless power transfer systems are discussed and analyzed. In addition, the implementation, dynamic modelling, load estimation and control of multi-coil mid-range wireless power transmission systems are introduced. Finally, conclusions are drawn, and prospects are provided for future research and development of wireless power conversion technologies.
