AbstractThis paper describes investigations into the structural response of concrete-filled Circular Hollow Sections (CHSs) under cyclic axial loading. The research is based primarily upon laboratory testing. A series of tests on both hot-formed and cold formed concrete-filled CHSs with a non-dimensional global slenderness in the region of 1 were conducted to investigate key structural responses including first cycle peak load, post buckling resistance, reserve strength, ductility level and energy dissipation. Measurements were taken of crosssection geometry, geometric imperfections and material properties.Key test results and sample load-deformation histories are presented. The generated structural performance data will be exploited to calibrate the numerical finite element models which will be used for further parametric studies. © 2012 Taylor & Francis Group, London.
