AbstractThe rising demand for enhanced ESG performance, coupled with the impetus for business improvement, has led to the acknowledgement of digital maturity as a means to attain both objectives. This study seeks to conceptualise the influence of digital maturity on ESG performance in construction firms and, based on the results, to offer practical recommendations for improving ESG ratings. The research develops a tailored digital maturity assessment model and an ESG performance rating system to investigate the relationship between digital maturity and ESG performance. Finally, it recommends effective digital maturity strategies to enhance ESG performance ratings. This research employs a mixed-method approach across three critical phases. The digital maturity assessment model and ESG performance rating system were developed through a comprehensive literature review, a questionnaire, and subsequent Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) analysis. Subsequently, investigate digital maturity concerning ESG performance via literature reviews, data analysis surveys, and correlation studies. We propose comprehensive digital maturity strategies, validate models through expert-led focus group discussions, and identify essential strategies. The anticipated outcomes of this research comprise an enhanced digital maturity assessment model, empirical evidence linking digital maturity to ESG performance, and proposed digital strategies for augmenting ESG performance ratings. The study aims to provide construction companies with a well-rounded overview and actionable advice to navigate them towards sustainable development by effectively integrating digital maturity and ESG practices.
